Maintenance of the Cabbage palm is very easy. The Cabbage tree can be grown in full sun to some shade. It requires regular watering for best growth habit. The Cabbage palm is very adaptable to a wide range of soils. It can grow in swamps, pine flatwoods, coastal marshes and flatwoods.

The Palmetto palm is cold hardy and can tolerate as low as 7-10 F. It can be grown in zones 8 through 11.

The Sabal palm is drought, salt, fire, flooding and hurricane resistant. The Cabbage palmetto is also resistant to pests.
